We come from a variety of diverse backgrounds and education levels with the singular message that recovery is possible. Many of the members of our team have first-hand experience facing addiction and mental health disorders themselves or with a loved one, which helps us to relate to our patient’s individual needs.

Vern
Vern Ballard
Director of Operations

Verndelarae Ballard joined Harmony Recovery in 2018 as a Behavioral Health Tech. Through dedication, exceptional client care, and outstanding professional performance, she rose to the Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor and now serves as The Director Operations.

Verndelarae has over 8 years in the Behavioral Health /Addictions field and drawing on extensive experience in human services, Verndelarae empowers, guides, and inspires not only clients but her staff as well. She loves helping others achieve goals and overcome adversity.

Verndelarae Ballard, a New York native, mother, and motivational speaker, encourages those recovering from substance abuse, mental health issues, and personal trauma. In her spare time, Verndelarae enjoys family time, public speaking, and church service. She credits her spiritual belief and personal experiences with developing her empathy, compassion, and ability to connect with clients. Her goal is to continue providing hope for a better future to her community, clients and others that cross her path.

Kelly Rupinski

Manager of Quality Assurance

Kelly Rupinski has a passion for helping the struggling alcoholic and addict. Kelly has over 6 years experience in the substance abuse treatment field. Kelly started working as an Alumni Coordinator in 2013, bridging the gap between completing treatment and maintaining recovery. Over the years Kelly has worked in several aspects of treatment from Behavioral Health Technician, Office Manager, Case Manager/Intake Coordinator, and presently as Program Manager.

Kelly loves being able to welcome patients into our facility from the moment they walk through the doors and provide all patients with superb service and support until the moment they discharge. As Program Manager, Kelly ensures that Midwood Addiction Treatment’s program provides a safe, professional, and comfortable environment for the patients we serve day in and day out and oversees clinical, operations, and compliance for the program.

Jill Thompson
Dr. Jill E Thompson, MD
Medical Director

Dr. Thompson is board-certified in addiction medicine and neuroradiology with more than 20 years of experience in neurological disorders and addiction treatment. Dr. Thompson is highly invested in our patients’ care and works daily to provide a comprehensive plan of care for all patients including medications and therapy. Dr Thompson genuinely cares about each individual’s health and aims to help them recover from substance abuse and addiction. Because she understands the challenges our patients face, she offers a nonjudgmental atmosphere where privacy, empathy, and compassion are valued and practiced on a daily basis.

Erin Poore
Clinical Director

Erin was born and raised in Mooresville, North Carolina where she still lives today with her husband Josh, and two spoiled dogs, Annabelle and Abbie. Her original career path was a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry; however, life experiences led her to the mental health field where she graduated with a Master’s of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in addiction from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2015. Being a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, she was the lead therapist on a crisis dual diagnosis unit at a local hospital for 4 years before taking a Clinical Director position for a homeless non-profit and SACOT program at a Charlotte agency. In her role, Erin is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations and clinical staff, creating evidence based programming and implementing the same. Outside of work, she enjoys weight lifting, golfing, water sports, and anything to do with animals. Currently in school for her Doctorate of Healthcare Administration, Erin is excited to implement leadership skills that provides personal and professional growth among team members, and supports the mission of Harmony Recovery Group.

Jackie Redmond
Clinical Supervisor

Jackie moved from South Jersey to Charlotte where she pursued a career with Harmony Recovery Center. She received her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling with a specialty education in Addiction and Offenders Counseling from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Her experience includes time working in behavior therapy with children and adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities and a women’s addiction program which consisted of primarily mandated clients with a focus on children reunification. Jackie currently has dual associate licensure for both mental health treatment and addiction treatment. She has experience with Harmony at multiple levels from running a group session to carrying a caseload and now operating as the clinical supervisor.

Stephanie McEvoy
Stephanie McEvoy
Lead Case Manager

Stephanie McEvoy grew up in New Jersey. She obtained her associates degree in Sciences and has a certificate in Human Services. Stephanie is currently our case manager at Harmony Recovery Center. Her favorite part about her job is seeing the change and positivity in the client’s during their stay. In her free time Stephanie enjoys cooking and baking for her friends and family.

Evie Parrott
Business Development Executive

Evie Parrott is compassionate and understanding Outreach Representative for Harmony Recovery Center. She is a Certified Peer Support Specialist who has a solid understanding of substance abuse and mental health recovery. She possesses a unique perspective, personally living in recovery and maintaining success.

She has earned a full certification as not only a Peer Support Specialist but a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and Recovery Coach. She is proactive in advocating for clients and continually facilitates open communication providing excellent capabilities working with all ages. Evie’s primary mission is just simply to help others help themselves.

Business Development for North Carolina

Jessica White loves recovery stories and believes in making recovery a reality for as many people as possible. For over a decade, Jessica has worked in multiple facets of behavioral health, including operations, administration, strategic planning and implementation, professional development and training, marketing, and business development; all with a special focus on the client experience and outcomes. She is passionate about getting clients the most clinically and financially appropriate treatment, as quickly as possible, and ensuring cohesive aftercare plans to support sustainable recovery and growth. She is committed to creating cultures of excellence that embrace a philosophy of dignity and respect for all.

Jessica lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and is active in local faith and recovery communities. She prioritizes holistic health and loves gardening, hiking, reading good books, and spending time with friends, family, and her miniature pincher, Gretel, and kittens, Mick and Keith. She currently serves on the board of NAMI Charlotte and has served as Vice President and Board Member of the North Carolina Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Studies, and Co-Conference Chair and Board Member of Addiction Professionals of North Carolina.
